About this jacket

Zipped welt slots cut in beside the flap pockets are the detail worth pointing out on this burgundy leather harrington jacket, and they quietly change how it gets used. Keys, a card, a phone: those go in flat and stay put, while the flaps above take whatever is bulkier.

Fastening runs down a centre placket, where three chrome hook-and-bar clasps sit over the zip beneath them. A pointed shirt collar finishes the neck. Twin flap patch pockets face out at the hips with the zipped welts alongside, and the waist gathers into a shirred elastic leather band with snap tabs, so nothing knitted appears at the hem or the cuffs. Lining is a printed stone and taupe, carried through the body and out to the cuff openings.

Everything is professionally cleaned and conditioned before the listing goes up, every clasp and snap worked open and shut, then measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. Those figures sit in the measurement panel rather than in here, and they are the ones to trust. A label reading XXL tells you far less than a tape held against a jacket already hanging in your wardrobe.

Honest on the state of it. The hide is sound, with no tears, no splits and no missing hardware, and all three clasps plus the waist snaps are bright and complete. Wear reads as heavy storage creasing across the back panel, the chest and the sleeves, with a softened, slightly dulled sheen on the shoulders and along the shirred hem band where the leather has rubbed. The printed lining is intact but has aged to a warmer, slightly greyed stone at the front edges and the cuff openings.

  1. Sourced Bought as a single garment from an estate sale, dealer or private seller, chosen for the condition of the hide rather than the label in the collar.
  2. Cleaned Deep cleaned and conditioned so the leather moves again, without stripping the colour it has settled into.
  3. Repaired Where stitching, hardware or a lining needed work, it was put right before listing: seams restitched by hand, hardware replaced like for like, linings repaired or renewed.
  4. Graded Inspected panel by panel and graded honestly. Anything beyond normal vintage wear is written into the listing.
  5. Photographed Shot under consistent light. The photographs form part of the description, so what you see is what will arrive.
