Burgundy Leather Harrington Jacket, Silver Hook Clasp

Three ornate silver hook-and-eye clasps fasten the front of this burgundy leather harrington jacket, set on a covered placket where a zip would normally run. They catch the light well before the colour does, and a domed snap at the waistband takes over where the lowest clasp ends.

Holding the neck is a pointed shirt collar with a stud tab at each point, so it can sit flat and closed or fall open. A zipped chest pocket cuts into the front on a welt rather than sitting on top of it. The waistband is shirred leather, gathered into soft vertical folds that draw the hem in, and with no knitted rib at cuff or hem the sleeves and body finish in leather alone. Lining is olive printed satin.

This piece was professionally cleaned and conditioned, with every clasp, stud and zip checked, then measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. Flat measurements sit in their own panel on this page, chest and waist through to shoulder, sleeve and length; it is listed as an XL, though those figures are the ones to hold a jacket of your own against.

Wear on this one is honest and sits mainly on the back. Across the shoulder blades and lower back the leather carries widespread pale rub marks and surface abrasion, with colour lifted along the crease lines, so the reverse reads noticeably lighter than the front. The front is darker and cleaner but creased hard at the sleeve heads, elbows and either side of the waistband, and the finish has rubbed pale along the placket edge and the pocket welts. Collar and hem have darkened with handling. All three clasps, the collar studs and the pocket zips are present and intact, and the olive lining shows no tears or staining.

Only one of these sits in the stockroom, so when the XL goes the page goes dark with it.
