Burgundy Leather Harrington Jacket, Shirred Waistband

Shirring runs right around the hem of this burgundy leather harrington jacket, an elasticated band that pulls the waist in close and lets go again the moment you reach for something. A leather adjuster tab sits on each side of it, there to take up a little more slack across the hip.

Above that band, a pointed shirt collar lies flat across the shoulders, with a small red woven tab stitched in at the throat. One zip runs straight up the centre front and nothing interrupts it; the hand pockets are cut as vertical slashes at the hip. No knitted rib appears at the cuffs or the hem, so the sleeves finish in plain leather, and the body is lined throughout in plain black.

Each piece is shot flat so every panel can be read for what it is. Sizing is the part people misjudge from a screen, which is why the full set of flat measurements is listed separately beside these notes. Put a jacket you already wear on the floor, measure it the same way, and hold the two sets of numbers together.

Wear is the honest headline. Deep soft creasing has set permanently into the chest, the waist and both sleeves, and the finish has thinned on the high points so a lighter warm brown reads through the burgundy across the shoulders, the chest and along the sleeve folds. Colour therefore looks uneven from panel to panel in the flat shots, and that is rub rather than lighting. Collar points and zip tape are sound with the pull still on, the waistband still gathers and both tabs are attached, and the black lining is intact with ordinary wrinkling, no staining and no tears. Nothing in any frame shows a hole, a split or missing hardware.
