About this jacket

Ruched, padded leather wraps the neck of this burgundy leather harrington jacket, gathered into soft folds so the stand holds its height instead of flopping onto the shoulders. Everything else up top is comparatively quiet, which is exactly why the collar carries the whole look.

Down the centre front runs a straight zip. Pockets double up on each side: a vertical zip pocket sitting over a deep panel pocket, so each hand gets a fastened option and an open one. At the bottom, an elasticated leather band takes the place of knitted rib, keeping the hide unbroken all the way to the hem, and the cuffs pull in on buttoned tabs. Open it and the lining is a printed scenic design rather than a flat colour.

This piece was professionally cleaned and conditioned, with every zip run stop to stop, then measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. Sizing is given as XXL, though treat the letter as a rough steer: the flat measurements listed separately on this page were taken with the jacket done up and laid out, and holding them against something already hanging in your wardrobe will tell you more than any size code.

Wear here is obvious and worth reading properly. Creasing covers the whole hide, the finish has rubbed back to a redder tone across both shoulder yokes and the upper sleeves, and colour has thinned along the elasticated hem band, the cuff edges and around the pocket zips. Inside, the printed lining is grubby and blotchy in patches, heaviest at the front edges and lower body, but with no holes in it. Underneath all that the jacket is sound: no tears or splits show in the photographs, every zip runs, and the collar and label are both still in place.

  1. Sourced Bought as a single garment from an estate sale, dealer or private seller, chosen for the condition of the hide rather than the label in the collar.
  2. Cleaned Deep cleaned and conditioned so the leather moves again, without stripping the colour it has settled into.
  3. Repaired Where stitching, hardware or a lining needed work, it was put right before listing: seams restitched by hand, hardware replaced like for like, linings repaired or renewed.
  4. Graded Inspected panel by panel and graded honestly. Anything beyond normal vintage wear is written into the listing.
  5. Photographed Shot under consistent light. The photographs form part of the description, so what you see is what will arrive.
