About this jacket

Nothing breaks the front of this burgundy leather harrington jacket except a run of topstitching, because the straight centre zip is hidden behind a leather fly that fastens with a single press stud at the waist. What you get is an unbroken panel of hide from throat to hem, with no exposed teeth catching the light.

Above that fly sits a stand collar, faced in red on the inside and carrying a woven red neck label. Two slanted welt pockets cut into the hips, and the cuffs close on snap tabs. In place of the knitted rib this cut usually carries, the waistband is gathered leather over elastic, drawing the hem in against the body. Crimson satin lines the whole inside.

Everything was professionally cleaned and conditioned before the photographs were taken, with the zip run end to end and each snap worked open and shut. This one was measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. Sizing is marked XL, but the tape is what to trust: the flat measurements sit in the panel beside the images, taken with the jacket laid out and unstretched.

Wear on this one is real and worth reading before you commit. Across the shoulders, upper back and sleeves the hide has gone matte and dry, with a pale chalky bloom and fine scuffing where the finish has rubbed thin. Soft creasing runs through the body and both sleeves, heaviest at the elbows and around the pocket mouths. The waistband elastic has relaxed, and the hem edge looks slightly grubby and lightened. No cracks, splits or holes appear in any frame, the lining is bright and intact with only light rippling, and both the neck label and the care label are still attached.

  1. Sourced Bought as a single garment from an estate sale, dealer or private seller, chosen for the condition of the hide rather than the label in the collar.
  2. Cleaned Deep cleaned and conditioned so the leather moves again, without stripping the colour it has settled into.
  3. Repaired Where stitching, hardware or a lining needed work, it was put right before listing: seams restitched by hand, hardware replaced like for like, linings repaired or renewed.
  4. Graded Inspected panel by panel and graded honestly. Anything beyond normal vintage wear is written into the listing.
  5. Photographed Shot under consistent light. The photographs form part of the description, so what you see is what will arrive.
