Burgundy Leather Harrington Jacket, Chevron Back Yoke

Turn this burgundy leather harrington jacket around and the back does the talking: a pointed chevron yoke seam angles down from each shoulder and meets in the centre. That seam splits the upper back so the sleeves have somewhere to move, and it is also where the hide has gone darkest, mottled in patches either side of the join.

Up front the fastening is a straight centre zip, and the collar is pointed with a throat-latch strap to close it right up at the neck. A zipped welt pocket sits at the chest, while the two lower pockets are set over pleated panels, which is why the body has a bit of give across the ribs instead of pulling flat. No knitted rib anywhere on this one: the waistband is elasticated leather and the cuffs fasten with snap tabs, so the hem and wrist edges stay hide. Plain tobacco cotton lines the inside.

It was professionally cleaned and conditioned, every zip run through its full travel and the seams checked before it went in front of the camera, then measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. Sizing is XXL, but on a garment with this much history the flat figures are worth more than the tag, so they are set out in inches in the measurement panel on this page. Lay a jacket you already wear flat, measure it the same way, and you will know inside a minute whether this one will work on you.

Honesty on the condition: it has been worn hard and it looks it. The hide is heavily patinated, with mottled darker blotching across the back yoke and the lower body, and the colour has rubbed lighter along the collar fold, down the front placket and around the hem edge. Beside the zip there is a scuffed grey-brown patch where the surface has abraded away, and both sleeves carry light scuffing. What is absent counts too: no tears, no splits, no holes, every zip present, the elasticated waistband still holding its shape, and the tobacco lining clean and intact with the red label still attached.
