About this jacket

Unzip it and the first thing you notice is the inside: pale champagne satin running the full length of a burgundy leather harrington jacket in XL, with one dark interior pocket set into it.

Above that satin sits a pointed spread collar, and the closure is a straight zip up the centre. A yoke seam crosses the chest, and the hip pockets are slash openings, gathered where they cut into the side panel. Nothing on this one is knitted rib: the waistband is shirred elastic leather, and the cuffs are gathered to match, each held by a press-stud tab.

The hide was professionally cleaned and conditioned, then the zip and every stud run until they moved without catching. This one was measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. The satin was left unpressed rather than risk marking it, so it arrives as photographed. Label sizing says XL, but the flat measurements shown separately on this page are the ones to trust: chest, waist, shoulder, sleeve and length, all taken with the jacket laid down, so compare them against something you already wear.

Wear is worth reading properly before you commit. Soft creasing has settled across the front panels and down both sleeves, and along those crease lines the surface has picked up a faint sheen, with light rubbing across the shoulders as well. Edges of the hem band and the cuffs have darkened and worn a little. Set against that: no tears, no splits, nothing missing, zip and press studs all working, and the champagne lining clean and unbroken, just noticeably wrinkled from storage.

  1. Sourced Bought as a single garment from an estate sale, dealer or private seller, chosen for the condition of the hide rather than the label in the collar.
  2. Cleaned Deep cleaned and conditioned so the leather moves again, without stripping the colour it has settled into.
  3. Repaired Where stitching, hardware or a lining needed work, it was put right before listing: seams restitched by hand, hardware replaced like for like, linings repaired or renewed.
  4. Graded Inspected panel by panel and graded honestly. Anything beyond normal vintage wear is written into the listing.
  5. Photographed Shot under consistent light. The photographs form part of the description, so what you see is what will arrive.
