Burgundy Leather Field Jacket, Throat Strap Collar

A punched throat strap fastens the stand collar right up under the chin on this burgundy leather field jacket, and undone it hangs loose so the collar can sit open.

Below the strap, the front closes on a straight snap storm placket running down the centre, bronze snaps spaced evenly along it, with a zip channel visible underneath at the throat. Four flap pockets fasten on antique brass snaps. The hem is straight and gusseted at the sides, with no knitted rib anywhere on it, and the sleeve ends are closed by small zips with metal pulls. Tobacco satin lines the inside.

This piece was professionally cleaned and conditioned, then measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster, with every snap worked open and shut, both cuff zips run the length of their teeth and the lining turned out and looked over. Rather than going by the size L, use the flat measurements in the panel beside these photographs. Chest, waist, shoulder, sleeve and length are all given there in inches, and measuring a jacket you already wear against those numbers is the surest way to judge the fit.

Wear on it is real and easy to see. The hide has softened and creases deeply throughout, heaviest over the sleeves, the pocket flaps and the lower body, where the raised folds have taken on a glossy broken-in sheen. Light scuffing and a few faint pale rub marks sit on the shoulders and the left sleeve, and the brass snaps have dulled and tarnished slightly, though all of them are still there. A short thread has come loose at the right hem. There are no tears, holes or splits; the tobacco satin inside is unstained and simply wrinkled, and the woven label at the neck is still clean and legible.

Only one of these came through the shop, so when it sells this page goes dark for good.
