Burgundy Leather Field Jacket, Dome Stud Pocket

Dome studs fasten the twin flap chest pockets on this burgundy leather field jacket, and they set the tone for the whole front: hardware you can see, put where it does actual work rather than hidden under a seam.

Behind that placket runs a full-length front zip, and over it sit three silver hook-and-bar clasps spaced down the centre, so it can be worn zipped, clasped, or both at once. The collar stands up instead of folding flat. Hand pockets are angled and zipped, cut for warmth as much as carrying. No knitted rib appears anywhere on the garment, so the cuffs and the hem band are plain leather and the bottom edge stays straight rather than gathering in. Inside, khaki cotton lining carries a red woven label and a zipped internal pocket.

Hide is sound right the way round, with no tears, splits, cracking or old repairs. What it does carry is creasing, and a lot of it: deep soft folds across both sleeves, over the front panels and right across the back, and the raised ridges of those creases have lost some of their sheen. Light scuffing shows along the hem band and the front edges. All three clasps are present, the main zip and both hand pocket zips run, and nothing is missing, though the silver hardware has dulled a shade. It is not pitted. The khaki lining reads clean in the open-front and close-up frames, with no staining, no holes and no seams lifting.
