About this jacket

Four utility pockets sit across the front of this burgundy leather field jacket, a stand collar closes it at the throat, and the body runs longer than most jackets of the period. Size XL.

Stock like this is bought one piece at a time, then professionally cleaned and conditioned before it ever reaches the camera. It is measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. Labels from this era mean very little, so the flat measurements further down the page are the honest guide. Hold them against something already hanging in your wardrobe.

The grade here is Very Good. There is a settled patina across the shoulders and a little darkening where hands have rested on the pocket flaps, all of it in the photographs so nothing arrives as a surprise.

Just the one, in this size and this finish. Once it is bought the listing goes dark and does not come back.

  1. Sourced Bought as a single garment from an estate sale, dealer or private seller, chosen for the condition of the hide rather than the label in the collar.
  2. Cleaned Deep cleaned and conditioned so the leather moves again, without stripping the colour it has settled into.
  3. Repaired Where stitching, hardware or a lining needed work, it was put right before listing: seams restitched by hand, hardware replaced like for like, linings repaired or renewed.
  4. Graded Inspected panel by panel and graded honestly. Anything beyond normal vintage wear is written into the listing.
  5. Photographed Shot under consistent light. The photographs form part of the description, so what you see is what will arrive.
