Burgundy Leather Cafe Racer Jacket, Triple Clasp

Three pewter hook-and-bar clasps run down the centre of this burgundy leather cafe racer jacket, fastened over the zip rather than in place of it, so the front reads as a row of hardware instead of a plain tape.

Above them the collar is a short stand, cut to sit against the neck without folding over. No knitted rib appears anywhere on the body, which leaves the hem running plain and straight and the cuffs finishing clean off the sleeve. Hip pockets are slanted welts closed with zips, and the lining is a bronze satin carrying a zipped inner pocket.

This piece was professionally cleaned and conditioned, then measured, graded, photographed, packed and posted from Doncaster. Each clasp was worked open and shut, the zip run its full length and the seams looked over, with the surface left otherwise exactly as it arrived. Flat measurements were taken with the jacket laid out and unfastened, and they sit separately on this page in inches, from chest across to full length. It is a size L, though those figures are the ones to hold against a jacket you already wear.

Wear on it is plain to see. The hide is sound throughout, with no holes, no tears and no splits, but heavy creasing runs across the back panel, over both shoulders and down the sleeves, and the peaks of those creases have rubbed to a lighter, glossier tone than the colour around them. That gives a shiny worn surface rather than a matte one. Edges show slight wear along the front hem and at the cuff seams. All three clasps and the zip are present and undamaged. Inside, the bronze satin is complete but rumpled, and the panel around the interior label pocket has gone mottled and faded with age.
