Burgundy Leather Cafe Racer Jacket, Pintuck Panels

Raised pintuck panels run across the shoulder yokes and frame both pockets on this burgundy leather cafe racer jacket, so the front breaks into ridged bands rather than sitting as one flat expanse of hide.

A short standing band collar closes tight at the neck with a snap tab at the throat, and the straight centre zip runs down from there in a single clean line. Twin hand pockets sit on the angle, cut into those raised pintuck panels, each with its own zip. Across the back waist there is a wide ribbed panel; no knitted rib is used anywhere on the jacket, so cuffs and hem finish plain. Lining is black throughout.

Before photography the jacket was gone over seam by seam at our Doncaster office, every zip run open and shut, the lining turned out and checked. It carries a size S label, but second-hand sizing wanders, so the flat measurements taken off it are set out separately on this page. Hold the pit to pit and the sleeve figure against a jacket already hanging in your wardrobe and you will know inside a minute whether this one works for you.

Wear on it is genuine and easy to see. The hide has gone soft and heavily creased, with deep set-in wrinkling across the chest, the lower back and both elbows that comes from years of being worn rather than years of being folded. Finish across the shoulder tops and upper sleeves reads drier and a shade lighter than the lower body, giving a mottled sheen under light, and the crowns of the pintuck ridges on the shoulders and around the pockets have rubbed paler where they stand proud. Against that, no holes, tears or split seams appear in any frame, the front zip lies flat when closed, every zip still has its pull attached, and the black lining photographs clean and unstained with the red maker's label and care tag both still stitched in.

Stock is a single garment, so when this one sells the page goes dark and it does not come back.
